In collaboration with the Walla Walla University Department of 音乐, wwu戏剧 presents 约瑟夫 and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat 今年秋天.
One of the most enduring shows of all time, 约瑟夫 and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a reimagining of the biblical story of 约瑟夫, his father Jacob, eleven brothers, and the coat of many colors.
Told entirely through song with the help of the main character, 旁白, the musical follows the preferred son 约瑟夫. After being sold into slavery by his brothers, he ingratiates himself with the Egyptian noble Potiphar but ends up in jail. While imprisoned, 约瑟夫 discovers his ability to interpret dreams, and he soon finds himself in front of the mighty but troubled, Elvis-inspired Pharaoh. 约瑟夫’s solution to Egypt’s famine elevates him to Pharaoh’s right-hand man and reunites him with his family.
The magical musical is full of catchy songs in a variety of styles, from a parody of French ballads to country-western and calypso, along with the unforgettable classics “Any Dream Will Do” and “Close Every Door.” Appropriate for all audiences and groups, 约瑟夫 received six Tony nominations in its initial Broadway run.
The cast includes current WWU students, 最近的校友, and students from Walla Walla Valley Academy and Rogers Adventist School. Christine Janis, assistant professor of music, directs with musical direction by Kraig Scott, professor of music.
